Why is Pineapple So Good For You?

Pineapples are a good source of vitamin C, B vitamins, and manganese. The high content of vitamin C makes pinapples very healthy in preventing damage caused by free radicals. Perhaps pineapples biggest health benefit, however, comes from a group of digestive enzymes they contain called bromelain. Bromelain has anti-inflammatory properties and is believed to slow down the growth of malignant tumors, enhance of absorption of some drugs (such as amoxicillan), and help promote the healing of injuries by reducing pain and swelling. Bromelain is most effective when eaten without other food. Pineapple has also been shown to help prevent nausea. I love that such a delicious food can have so many benefits!
